Spain Study Abroad Sketchbook
Carnegie Mellon University ‘13

Spain transformed how I understand architecture. Experiencing its eclectic buildings, experimental spirit, and cultural openness broadened my ability to analyze form and innovation, especially through works like the Guggenheim Bilbao and Calatrava’s designs. As I traveled, I realized architecture is cultural identity and societal impact—capable of elevating communities when done responsibly. The contrast between thoughtful design and neglected structures deepened my appreciation for context-aware architecture and helped me define what “good architecture” means to me.
